I am a Proud Moderate Heretic

In a world that often prizes conformity and adherence to established norms, embracing the title of 'heretic' might seem counterintuitive. Yet, I wear it as a badge of honor. To be a heretic is not merely to rebel or dissent without cause; it is to steadfastly pursue truth and innovation, even when it leads away from the trodden path.

The term 'heretic' historically denotes someone who challenges established religious doctrines. However, in a broader sense, it applies to any field of thought. It encapsulates a spirit of inquiry and a refusal to accept dogma unchallenged. Galileo, once condemned as a heretic, epitomizes this spirit in his pursuit of scientific truth against the rigid dogmas of his time.

My heresy lies in questioning the status quo, in believing that the current state of knowledge is not absolute but a stepping stone to greater understanding. This mindset is crucial in a rapidly evolving world where clinging to outdated ideas can be detrimental. I believe in the power of questioning, in the transformative potential of 'what if' and 'why not'.

Being a heretic is not about being contrarian for its own sake. It's about a commitment to intellectual integrity and progress. It means not being afraid to stand alone in a crowd, to champion an unpopular idea, or to forge a new path when the old one leads to a dead end.

In embracing heresy, I acknowledge the responsibility it carries: to be thoughtful, well-informed, and open to changing my own beliefs in light of new evidence. As a proud heretic, I am committed to the never-ending pursuit of knowledge, understanding, and innovation.

I realize that pubicly defining yourself as a heretic is not a choice for some, some might use freethinker or other more comfortable names for a practitioner of this way of thinking. However, this way of thinking is now in most need as the culture wars rage. We need new thinking tools and that is what Smarts Innoversity is set up for. Knowledge is everywhere. Smarts are scarce.
